MAIMAKO DESCRIBES UNIJOS STAFF AS GLOBAL SOLUTION PROVIDERS
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako has described Staff of the University as a critical resource who are intellectually equipped to be solution providers not just to Nigeria but as global players.
The Vice-Chancellor stated this while paying host to the National Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers (Nimech-E), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) who visited the University on a familiarization tour ahead of the Institute’s 2020 International Conference and Annual General Meeting scheduled to hold between the 20th and 23rd October, 2020.
Professor Maimako who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Gray Goziem Ejikeme said the University over the years has maintained a global standard that made it unique compared to other institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, adding that the University has given maximum attention to its Faculty of Engineering, hence the befitting structure built to house the Faculty and other facilities provided.
Also contributing, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Tanko Ishaya said the University is happy with the output from the Faculty of Engineering which he noted was established only recently, adding that based on its initial conceptualization, more programmes will soon be mounted in the Faculty.
Professor Tanko applauded the efforts of the relevant Professional bodies in bringing the University’s Engineering Programme to fruition, saying that the institution’s doors are always open for effective mentoring.
Earlier, National Chairman of Nimech-E, Engineer (Professor) Mohammed Nda Liman, represented by the immediate past National Chairman, Dr. Robinson Ejila said, they were in University to strengthen ties ahead of the Institute’s International Conference and Annual General Meeting slated to take place in UNIJOS.
Engineer Nda Liman while congratulating the University for fulfilling NUC’s guidelines and having a giant structure erected for its Faculty of Engineering, said the Professional body has set up a Research and Monitoring platform to spur researchers in the Engineering field especially Mechanical Engineers devise and discover more efficient ways of practicing their craft.
He solicited the co-operation and support of the University to enable Nimech-E organize a success conference.
The team later proceeded to inspect some facilities at the University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.
